Amanda is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Certified Advanced Social Work Care Manager with over 16 years of professional experience in a variety of clinical settings including hospital, rehabilitation center, child advocacy, behavioral and mental health, forensics, hospice (including in a high-acuity inpatient unit), psychotherapy, Probate Court, and private practice. Since 2019, Amanda has utilized her experience as a Care Manager and Licensed Clinical Social Worker with Metta Johnson and Associates helping clients to navigate the complex maze of the aging, medical, and mental health systems. Throughout her career, she has worked alongside various healthcare professionals including Medical Directors, Psychiatrists, Neurologists, and other licensed professionals to ensure continuity and quality of care for her clients. She has served as a court-appointed Evaluator with several Probate Courts to complete mental capacity evaluations to determine whether Proposed Wards need a Guardian and/or Conservator. She has also provided numerous hours of clinical supervision for multiple Clinical Social Work candidates over the years.

Amanda specializes in a broad spectrum of mental health issues including neurodevelopmental disorders, neurocognitive disorders, anxiety and depressive disorders, complicated grief, and schizophrenia spectrum disorders. She has a passion for educating others about mental health and medical complexities so that they develop self-awareness of how these affect them personally but also to encourage empathy of the world around them. She has extensive experience completing clinical evaluations to assess clients’ mental health, medical status, cognitive capacity, symptoms, and behaviors to better understand their unique history and needs to develop comprehensive care plans so that they receive the care and support they deserve. Amanda helps clients to realize their potential by working through deep emotional, mental, and psychosocial complexities. She “meets clients where they are” with empathy and encouragement.

Amanda was born and raised in Georgia and has called Gwinnett County her home for many years. She received her undergraduate degree in Social Work from Georgia State University in 2007 and continued to The University of Georgia where she graduated with an Advanced Standing Master of Social Work degree in 2008. She received her Georgia master Social Work licensure in 2011 and her clinical Social Work licensure in 2013. In her free time, Amanda enjoys spending time with her husband, son, and two Giant Schnauzers, Benji and Kaya. For many years, she and her husband have spent several hours each week volunteering their time as youth soccer coaches. She enjoys spending quality time with family and friends, gardening, reading, and traveling.
